Why Muesli

Great notes, without the busywork.

Muesli works the way you already do. Open it, jot down whatever you want, and let it handle the rest.

🎙️

Transcribes everything

Muesli captures your meeting audio right on your device — no bot joins the call, no awkward "Muesli has joined" moment.

Enhances your notes

Type a few rough bullets and Muesli combines them with the transcript into a clean, structured summary you'd actually send.

🧩

Works everywhere

Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack huddles, or a chat in a hallway. If you can hear it, Muesli can take notes on it.

📐

Templates that fit

Standups, 1:1s, user interviews, sales calls. Pick a template and your notes come out formatted for the job.

💬

Ask your meetings anything

"What did we decide about pricing?" Search across every conversation and get an answer with the receipts.

🔒

Private by design

Your transcripts live on your machine. The code is open, auditable, and self-hostable — verify it for yourself.

How it works

From meeting to memo in seconds.

1

Hit record

Start Muesli before your meeting. It listens quietly in the background while you focus on the conversation.

2

Jot freely

Type whatever you'd normally scribble. Half-sentences are fine — Muesli fills in the gaps with the transcript.

3

Get clean notes

When the meeting ends, Muesli hands you a polished summary with decisions and action items, ready to share.

A different kind of notepad

Yours forever. Not rented.

Most AI note-takers charge you every month and keep your data on their servers. Muesli does neither.

FAQ

Good questions, honest answers.

Is Muesli really a one-time purchase?

Yes. You pay once and own your copy of Muesli, including all updates within your major version. There's no subscription and no recurring charge. Because it's open source, you can also build it from source for free.

What does "open source" mean for me?

The entire Muesli codebase is public under a permissive license. You can read exactly how your audio and notes are handled, audit it for privacy, contribute features, fork it, or self-host the whole thing. Your trust is verifiable, not assumed.

Does a bot join my meetings?

No. Muesli captures audio locally on your device, so there's no third-party participant showing up in the call. Nobody else in the meeting needs to install anything.

Where do my transcripts and notes live?

By default, on your machine. You can choose to use a cloud AI model for the "enhance" step with your own API key, or run a local model so nothing leaves your device at all.

Which platforms are supported?

Muesli is available for Mac today, with the codebase open for the community to extend to other platforms. Because it listens to system audio, it works with any meeting tool — Zoom, Meet, Teams, and more.

How is this different from Granola and other note-takers?

Muesli takes the same "you jot, we enhance" approach you may have seen elsewhere — but with two big differences: it's a one-time purchase instead of a subscription, and it's fully open source instead of a closed black box.
